16-19 Bursary Fund
The bursary fund is designed to provide assistance to students whose access to, or completion of, education is inhibited by financial constraints or barriers.

Vulnerable student bursary (Guaranteed Bursary)
Students may be eligible for support of up to £1,200 per year if they:
- Are currently in care or are a care leaver.
- Receive Income Support or Universal Credit in their own right.
- Receive DLA or EAS/Universal Credit in their own right.
- Receive PIP and EAS/Universal Credit in their own right.
Discretionary Bursary
Schools and colleges can also award discretionary bursaries to students facing financial hardship. Each institution sets its own criteria, but this is usually based on:
- *Household income. At TSSF a household income below £30,000
- Eligibility for Free School Meals.
- Experiencing financial hardship that may impact participation in education.
- Exceptional personal or family circumstances resulting in financial need.
Evidence for Household income:
- Universal Credit award notice (all pages)
- Tax Credit award notice
- Income Support statement
- Jobseeker's Allowance (income-based)
- Employment and Support Allowance (income-related)
- Pension Credit
- Latest P60
- Last 3 months' payslips for all working adults in the household
- Self-employed Tax Calculation (SA302) and Tax Year Overview
Bursary funding is not an automatic entitlement (Unless student hits criteria for guaranteed).
Applications and requests are reviewed individually and are subject to eligibility criteria and available funding.

Funding may be available to help with essential educational costs, including:
- Travel
- Meals
- Essential equipment
- Books
- Uniform
- Educational visits
conditions of support
To receive support, students are expected to:
- Maintain a minimum of 90% attendance
- Demonstrate positive behaviour and conduct
- Follow the academies behaviour expectations
- Engage appropriately with their learning
- Ensure requests are educationally justified
