    Post-16: 1-2-1 Devices

From September 2025, every Post-16 student will receive a personal Chromebook as part of our long-term commitment to digital equity, academic excellence, and preparation for the modern world. This programme gives every learner reliable access to the digital tools they need – whether in lessons, independent study, or at home.

    Why we’re doing it

    • The curriculum in every subject is becoming increasingly digital
    • Further education, apprenticeships, and employers now assume digital confidence
    • Online platforms support blended learning, revision, research, collaboration and coursework
    • Removing barriers to access helps level the playing field for all students

Most importantly, 1-2-1 devices strengthen teaching and learning. Lessons can move fluidly between direct instruction, guided practice and independent work. Students can access resources instantly, collaborate online, and receive feedback in real time. Devices also support a more scholarly, university-style approach where students take responsibility for their learning – organising their work, completing directed study tasks, reading widely, and submitting assignments online.

    Safe, structured and high-expectation use
To ensure devices enhance learning rather than distract from it, clear expectations and routines are in place:

    • Devices must be charged and brought to every lesson
    • Lids closed during teacher instruction unless asked otherwise
    • Headphones only when directed
    • Password reset and technical support are available in school
    • Consequences for inappropriate use are consistent and transparent

    Our Vision

    These devices allow for:

    • Higher quality feedback
    • Better organisation of learning
    • Wider access to reading and research
    • More personalised support
    • Stronger preparation for life beyond Sixth Form

This is a significant step in transforming Post-16 education: scholarly, inclusive, and future-ready.
